Getting started

What is Kutter?

Kutter is an AI short-video editor for Windows and Mac. Shoot a talking-to-camera clip or other footage, and AI helps you transcribe, cut filler words and silences, pick the story, lay out the Storyboard, and add Thai subtitles, B-roll, music, and voice-over, until you have a vertical clip ready to post on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts. Do I need to sign in?

You can use every step without signing in, except rendering to a file (Export), which needs an account to count Credits. You get 15 free Credits the first time you sign in. See Sign in.

I want to try it before shooting anything myself

Open the sample channel "ร้านกาแฟของฉัน" (My Café) on the home page. It has a finished project you can open and explore at every step. See Make your first clip.

Do I need an AI key?

You need one of these: an API Key for Claude, OpenAI, or Gemini, or a local AI account (Claude Code / Codex). See App settings.

Can I find this guide inside the app?

Yes. Click ช่วยเหลือ (Help) at the bottom of the left sidebar, then choose คู่มือการใช้งาน (User Guide). The guide opens in an app window. Or click แชทกับเรา (Chat With Us) to talk to the team. The top of each step has a ? button that takes you to that step's guide page. You can also open it from the Help menu on the Kutter website.

Credits and plans

When do I use Credits?

Only when you export and get a real clip, so you can test and edit as much as you like. For example, a clip up to 90 seconds uses 3 Credits. Exporting again within 7 days costs nothing extra. See Plans and Credits.

Why can't I select 60fps or H.265?

Frame rates above 30 fps need the Creator plan or higher. H.265 needs Pro. Click that option and the app opens the upgrade page for you.

If I cancel my membership, will I lose my work?

No. You keep your benefits until the end of the period you paid for, and your project files stay on your computer as before. Cancel in จัดการสมาชิก (Manage Membership).

Files and privacy

Is my footage uploaded?

No. Your video files stay on your computer. If you use local Whisper, the audio never leaves your computer either. See Data and privacy.

Can I use iPhone photos (HEIC)?

Yes. Drag JPG, PNG, or HEIC pictures into the Footage step. Each picture becomes a 3-second B-roll shot. The app converts HEIC to JPG in the project folder; your original file is never touched.

Where is my work stored? Can I move it?

It's in your ที่เก็บงาน (Work Location). Move it in ตั้งค่า (Settings) › ทั่วไป (General) by clicking เปลี่ยน (Change).

Editing

The subtitles have spelling mistakes

The transcriber may misspell some words, especially shop names or menu items. Fix the subtitles in the Storyboard step, and add the words to Channel-specific words so they're right from the start next time.

Can I make several short clips from one long video?

Yes. On the home page, click ตัดจากคลิปยาว (Cut From Long Video). The Creator plan cuts up to 5 clips at a time; Pro has no limit.

Can I use my own voice for voice-over without recording?

Yes, with voice cloning (needs an ElevenLabs key and the Creator plan or higher). See Clone your own voice.

Can I send it to CapCut or Premiere for more editing?

Yes (Creator plan or higher). See Send to CapCut and Send to Premiere / DaVinci / Final Cut.
